Discovery Trunk Maintenance $25.00 We have a very successful set of educational resources called Discovery Trunks that cover all time periods of Iowa's archaeological past and are available for educators statewide. Thanks to a grant, all shipping of these trunks to their destination is free. However, we are loosing our capacity to cover staff time to maintain this program. Staff time is needed to: process trunk requests, prepare trunks for shipping, inventory trunk upon return, replace missing items, make upgrades to contents and lessons, and oversee volunteers who assist this program. These trunks have been free for educators for the past two years, but we are re-instituting a service fee of $25 per trunk. A $25 contribution allows you to "gift" a trunk to an educator for a one-month period. |

Community Engagement $25.00 We pride ourselves on our statewide reach, providing programs for people of all ages to understand and appreciate Iowa's archaeological heritage and preserve it for the future. We no longer have direct state funds to subsidize the cost of staff time, vehicle, mileage, or accomodation when doing community engagement. Unfortunately, our costs increase the further we get from Iowa City, and full fees for a one-hour program range from $125-425. Your contribution to the Community Engagement Fund will allow you to send us to a community of your choice (optional) for a one-hour presentation, and continue to help us reach communities statewide. Select a region from our from our fees map that corresponds to the community you would like to support or make a general $25 contribution. |

Classroom Engagement $25.00 OSA Education and Outreach staff Elizabeth Reetz and Cherie Haury-Artz develop and present a variety of Exploring Iowa Archaeology activities for classrooms that are interdisciplinary, inquiry-based, hands-on, and customizable for all grade levels based on current classroom content and teacher needs. We no longer have direct state funds to subsidize the cost of staff time, vehicle, mileage, or accomodation when doing statewide K-12 classroom engagement. Unfortunately, our costs increase the further we get from Iowa City, and full fees for a one-hour program range from $125-425. Additionally, we lack the funds for staff support to lead classroom tours of our facility in Iowa City. Your contribution to the Classroom Engagement Fund will allow you to send us to a classroom of your choice (optional) for a one-hour presentation and continue to help us reach youth statewide. Select a region from our from our fees map that corresponds to the community you would like to support or make a general $25 contribution. |
